In a new report, the pharmaceutical industry, especially doctors, is talking up its low cost of erectile dysfunction medications like Viagra (sildenafil) with a price tag similar to that of prescription drugs like Cialis (tadalafil).
“Erectile dysfunction can be treated at any pharmacy,” says Dr. Mark J. Dolan, director of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a professor of surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. “Viagra, on the other hand, is only available with a prescription.”
The drug is one of several drugs that are also approved for men to use to treat erectile dysfunction. It is available in both branded and generic form, but there are also alternative drugs. But the market for these drugs has largely shifted from generics to the drug form, leading to a decrease in the number of drugs that are in short supply.
Dr. Dolan says he is not a fan of generic drugs because of how they are much less effective. But he says he believes the pharmaceutical industry is well-positioned to develop new drugs for the long haul.
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, the world’s largest government health research institute, has recently found that Viagra, its generic equivalent, has a much lower price tag compared to the branded version. The FDA, however, has not yet approved generic versions of Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction.
“The price of Viagra is not a factor for everyone,” says Dr. Dolan. “The cost is the same.”
The drugs also carry a lower active ingredient, which is the same ingredient used in Cialis, the generic version of the drug. “The effect of the drug can be seen in the eyes,” Dr. Dolan says. “It’s much more powerful.”
Dolan says he and his team have tested several other drugs and have found that Cialis, Viagra, and generic versions of Viagra have similar effects on the body.
“It is important to note that all of the drugs in the market, including the two generics, have been found to have similar effects on the body,” he says. “The effects can be seen in the eyes and blood vessels. The effect of the drug can be seen in the lungs, nose, or other areas of the body.”
In fact, doctors may also be surprised by some of the results. They might see changes in the symptoms, such as feeling short of breath, dizziness, headache, or feeling tired, or they may see a sudden drop in blood pressure. Some may even see a sudden drop in blood pressure. “The symptoms of erectile dysfunction, such as these, may be the same,” Dr. “It may be a sign of something else, such as a medical problem or a drug reaction.”
“These drugs can have some serious side effects. But they don’t have to be that. They can still have some serious side effects,” he says.
Dolan says he hopes the new report will help the industry find a new drug for erectile dysfunction that can help those with the symptoms of a problem like erectile dysfunction.
“It could be that Viagra and Cialis, and then generic Viagra and Cialis, or Viagra and Cialis, or Viagra and Cialis, could be the next big drug. But if you’re looking for a drug that works, it might not be the best option,” he says. “It could be that you need to try a new medication that you think works for you. It could be that you need to look for other medications that you think you can get a prescription for. You can look for Viagra, for example, and then try some new treatments.”
